From relieving dry skin to boosting energy, the simple practice of self-massage can offer a myriad of benefits. Self-massage is actually an ancient methodology for promoting overall health and well-being. Checking in with yourself in this loving and nurturing way also helps turn off your inner critic and connect with the deepest parts of yourself. At Mad Ritual, we try to practice this ritual daily!
Here's our 10 minute self-massage guide to help you get started.
1. Head & Face 1 MIN
Start with a small amount, using your first and second finger, work in a circular motion starting at your jaw. Massage up and meet in the middle of your forehead.
2. Neck & Shoulders 2 MIN
Use a moderate amount. Knead using two or three fingertips on the back of your neck where your neck meets your shoulders. Release when the muscle feels more relaxed. Then, gently run your fingers along the back of your neck until Recovery Balm is absorbed.
3. Upper Back 3 MIN
Starting on the right side, squeeze and release trapezius muscles three times and then roll your fingers over the muscle starting from the outside and moving towards the base of your neck. Repeat on your left side.
4. Lower Back 1 MIN
Position thumbs firmly in the middle of the low back and work the balm in using a circular motion away from the center.
5. Feet 3 MIN
Sitting with one foot crossed over the opposite knee, use your thumb to apply pressure to your arch and gently glide your thumb up toward your big toe. Move from the center of your foot and repeat motion toward each toe. Use any excess balm to massage the top of your feet and ankles.
Starting your day with more energetic massage strokes will help revitalize the body, helping to boost your energy.
